How To Hang An Extension Ladder
Ladders can take up quite a bit of space,
especially if you have it leaning against the wall. If you learn how to hang an
extension ladder you will be able to reclaim some space in the garage. You will
need a few things, but it is a really simple process.
The first step to learning how to hang an extension ladder is to know what tools
are required and getting them. The tools you will need for this project are:
tape measure, stud finder, pencil, drill with 3/8-inch bit, and a hook with a
screw end. You will want to start by measuring the length of the ladder and add
four inches. You will want the ladder to be four inches off the ground.
Next you should locate a spot in your garage where it can hang horizontally or vertically. A
ladder is easier to take off the hook if it is vertical. Use your stud finder to
find a stud in the wall and make a mark with your pencil. From that mark, take
your tape measure and go up to the length that your ladder was plus four inches.
Mark that spot too.
You should now take your drill and 3/8-inch bit and drill a hole where the
second mark was placed. Please note you should only drill about an inch deep.
Once the drilling has been completed, screw in your hook and apply a little
pressure. The hook should not budge at all. If it does you may need a hook with
a longer screw end.
As soon as the hook is deemed stable, lift the ladder up and place it on the
hook. This is a very simple project. These are the steps you should take in
order to learn how to hang an extension ladder safely on the wall.
